Watch your back

With summer coming, we are all looking forward to spending more time outdoors.

No matter whether that be to enjoy time with friends and family, tending the garden or doing some of those outdoor household chores we all look towards summer as an active time. Additional activity puts additional strain on perhaps muscles and joints that haven’t been used in a while, so it is important to protect your back and think about doing these activities carefully and in a way that will not lead to back trouble.

Most of my patients will have had the talk from me about holding your tummy in on the out breath before lifting or standing for long periods to protect the joints in your lumbar spine. If you remember this then great DON’T forget to do this when you are getting out the garden furniture, cleaning the gutters, mowing the lawn and playing with the children. If not then have a look at the Tutorials page. You should be able to find several simple exercises for different areas of the spine. If you can’t find the one you want drop me a note and I will endeavour to add it to the list of things to add.

Many apologies for the interuption at the beginning of the year when the site was down for many weeks. The planned switch over was hounded with many technical issues which we have now mostly resolved. However this does mean that the plan to have a ‘Members’ area with several in depth videos etc has been delayed. Over the next few months there should be a lot more information being added so keep your eyes open and monitor what’s new.

Unavoidable reduced service from 1 May 2014.

From 1 May 2014 there will be an unavoidable interruption to our usual service here at Greenacres Chiropractic centre for at least 6 weeks.

During this time our opening hours will be greatly reduced to Wednesday afternoons / evenings only.

This is regretable but none the less unavoidable. If you are suffering with back or joint pain you can still call us or e-mail us.  The phone will continue to be monitored as usual and it may be possible with plenty of notice to arrange out of hours appointments.

We appologise for any inconvenience that this might cause you.

Rewarding Patient loyalty

Are you already a Patient of ours?

If so, then pick up a ‘Recommend a Friend’ card and both you and your friend will benefit. Fill out your bit, pass it on to a friend and when they have booked in as a New Patient they will receive a free gel ice pack and you on your next visit will be given a £10 discount.

How it works

Your friend attends their first assessment with us and when we ask ‘how did you hear about us?‘ they name you and give us the card. They pay as normal the full price. The next time you attend for a follow up treatment session you get a £10 discount. You can refer as many people as you like. Your friend can do the same, but obviously not refer you back to us, it needs to be someone we haven’t seen before. This is a great way to refer your spouse, parent, child, friend or work colleague who is always moaning about back or joint pain, etc, etc.

This offer is not transferable and must be taken up within 4 months of your last visit to us. Offer is for a limited period only and may be withdrawn at any time.

March 2013

Great news for the Chiropractic profession, the College of Chiropractors having been granted a Royal charter in November 2012 has now been given permission to rename itself The Royal College of Chiropractors. This is the first complimentary therapy establishment to be granted such a charter. Congratulations to them for worthy recognition for all they do for our profession. This is what their new livery looks like:-

New for March 2013

A range of high quality homeopathic and nutritional supplements to support both long term chronic and acute problems experienced by many of my patients. I have used and benefited from these products and as many existing patients already know if it doesn’t work for me I don’t necessarily recommend anything. No horrid tastes, hand crafted, GLUTEN FREE, non suppressive and easy to use. If you are interested please ask us about Energetix. This range will be available from 3rd March 2013.

Statements today from bot NICE and WHO refer to the treatment of headaches. NICE acknowledges that manual therapy (which includes chiropractic) is at least as effective as traditional treatment for headaches in the young and adults.  WHO issued a statement saying that 5% of people taking pain killers for headaches over an extended period of time experience an increase in headaches attributed directly to the medication.

Marks and Spencer in conjunction with the British Chiropractic Association have come up with a 3 piece range of lingerie to support the back and aid posture. Ladies check it out.
